Here are four of my hiking gear staples that have taken me from trails in my own backyard, all the way to California.
Oboz Sawtooth X Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots – Women’s
This is the first pair of hiking boots I’ve ever owned and they’ve taken me everywhere – through the Tetons/Yellowstone and local trails in my hometown.
Women’s Osprey Eja 48 Pack
I used to hike in a regular ole school backpack (LOL) and let me tell you, if you’re doing longer hikes, I highly recommend investing in a good backpack with support straps. It makes a huge difference. This backpack has tons of pockets for all your stuff and the waist strap helps take a lot of the load off your back.
REI Co-op Traverse 32 Pack – Men’s
This is the backpack my husband has. We got fitted for them at REI. The staff there is really helpful and knowledgable so I’d recommend asking them for help if you get your pack from here!
Darn Tough Hiker Boot Sock Cushion Socks – Women’s
Moisture-wicking socks are a must! No one likes walking in wet socks
First Aid Kit
Even if you’re just going for a short hike, I recommend packing a first aid kit. You never know what could happen and it’s better to be over-prepared than have an “oh sh*t” moment. I got this basic one on Amazon.
